A technical writer by day and young adult author by night, Lauren Dixon has written lingerie catalogs for the Army, talks a lot about vaginas, and does not eat animals unless they ask her to first.
Her work has appeared in Menacing Hedge, DIAGRAM, Three-Lobed Burning Eye, BookLifeNow, Scape, Extract(s), Oracle, Sojourn, INTER, Kadar Koli and (R)evolve (from Naropa U’s Summer Writing Program), and was previously nominated for Sundress Press’s Best of the Net Award, along with the Best New Poets of 2006 Anthology, published by Meridian. A Clarion West 2010 graduate, Dixon edited the literary ‘zine Superficial Flesh and has appeared as a featured reader in Word Space’s Writers in the Universities series and Sojourn’s Word Up! series. Dixon taught creative writing, literature, and rhetoric and composition at the University of Texas at Dallas, Collin College in Plano, TX, and at El Centro College in Dallas. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing-Poetry from Texas State University in San Marcos and a PhD in Humanities-Literary Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Currently, she offers freelance proofreading and copy editing services, and she bides her time writing novels about serial killer tornadoes. You can reach her at lauren.dixon [at] gmail [dot] com. And no, she doesn’t star in The Saddle Club…yet.
